Kansas School districts went to Topeka today in order to request more funds to fill out their budgets. Under the current block grant program -- a significant change from the past methods -- Kansas schools who have a shortfall return to Topeka to ask for extra funds or work with the state to streamline their costs.

The opening requests, which include a $980k request from Wichita school district have been met with some opposition.
