It was no surprise to any sane human being that Trump made a mockery of America during a visit with NATO leaders and while in England last week; it is what the “ugly American” has done since his poorly attended inauguration. Foreign nations are aware that they are perpetually going to be the target of Trump’s wrath as long as they refuse to explicitly obey his edicts, as if he is the king of the world. It is a travesty that Americans willfully elected a bigot who has attacked people in the wrong religion and of the wrong race; going so far as praising flagrant bigots as “very fine people” in the country he lives. However, promoting bigotry in America was a prelude to his crusade to promote bigotry globally.
By now one or two conscious Americans comprehend that among Trump’s Aryan acolytes, “making America white and Christian” is an honest-to-dog religious crusade. That being the case, it was not out of character for Trump to dispatch one of his administration’s designated theocrats to pressure a foreign government to show deference to a dangerous anti-Muslim bigot who is imprisoned for blatantly violating English law.
The convicted felon that the Trump alt-right (NAZI) movement is rushing to defend, a nasty bigot calling himself Tommy Robinson (real name, Stephen Yaxley-Lennon), has confessed to attempting to “prejudice an ongoing trial.” Yaxley-Lennon is serving a thirteen-month prison sentence for his admitted crime and it is making dirty Donald very angry. Because Yaxley-Lennon is the founder of the U.K.’s version of Trump’s fascist alt-right (NAZI) movement, the English Defence League (EDL), Trump sent “a diplomat” to warn England that their justice system is annoying Trump. The religious freedom ambassador issued the warning during a meeting on religious freedom according to British officials.
Trump directing America’s “religious freedom ambassador” to threaten England’s judicial system highlights just how much of a religion Trump’s alt-right bigotry really is. Former Kansas governor and evangelical extremist Sam Brownback warned Britain’s ambassador to America, Sir Kim Darroch, that if England was not sympathetic to Yaxley-Lennon, then Trump “would be compelled to criticize Britain” for how it handled the case. One of Trump’s closest alt-right advisors, Breitbart Nazi Stephen Bannon, went even farther and demanded Yaxley-Lennon’s release from prison.
Bannon unleashed a profanity-laced tirade at an English journalist because he reminded the Trump zealot that Yaxley-Lennon did break, and admitted breaking, a longstanding English law. Bannon’s response was that the law is wrong because the bigot is a “solid guy” and “the backbone of England.” According to British journalist Theo Underwood, Bannon raged at him thus for vocalizing the facts:
“F*** you. You f***ing liberal elite. Tommy Robinson is the backbone of this country.”
According to British law, he is also a convicted felon regardless what Trump, England’s alt-right bigots, America’s religious freedom ambassador, or Breitbart sycophant Bannon say. However, that simple fact means nothing whatsoever to Trump or Bannon; they are intent on following Vladimir Putin’s lead and interfering in a sovereign nations’ government. That Trump tasked his international religious freedom ambassador to do the dirty work informs that like in America, religious freedom is being used internationally as a cudgel against religions unrelated to Christianity. Remember, Trump’s and Bannon’s jailed hero is a rabid anti-Muslim crusader as well as a raging alt-right (NAZI) bigot.
Americans are either willfully ignorant about the threat of theocrats taking over the government, or too cowardly to condemn the religious right’s bloodless coup d’état. There was no better indication that the current corrupt administration is intent on spreading its religious right hate globally than Trump designating evangelical extremist Sam Brownback as U.S. ambassador for religious freedom. As one or two Americans are likely aware, “religious freedom” as defined by America’s religious right is not religious freedom; it is religious tyranny against any human being unwilling to bow to the will of evangelical extremists – in America and now around the world.
Apparently, it is not enough of a travesty for the head of the Executive branch to advance bigotry in America. Trump’s administration is attempting to coerce one of America’s staunchest allies to abandon its laws and “go easy” on a bonafide religious bigot revered by Trump and his alt-right bigots. And, who better to issue a warning to America’s ally than this secular nation’s ambassador for religious freedom – a freedom Americans lost when evangelicals installed a Russian asset, self-confessed sinner, and anti-Muslim crusader like Yaxley-Lennon in the White House. Of course Trump is attempting to interfere with a foreign nation’s criminal justice system; an alt-right anti-Muslim bigot is in prison.
In this instance the only difference between Trump attempting to interfere in a sovereign nation’s internal affairs and Putin is that Putin has the intellect to use covert acts. Where Trump and Putin are working in concert is in their efforts to undermine democracies, and longstanding alliances that thus far have prevented Putin from expanding his influence over Europe. Putin already influences America’s government as evidenced by Trump’s efforts to aid Putin and undermine the so-called Western Alliance and now an ally’s criminal justice system.
